Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Hébergement Ornano – it’s one of those places that grows on you once you figure out what it’s actually about. When I first rolled up to 229 Rue d’Ornano with my overstuffed suitcase, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star spot in this part of Bordeaux. The building itself has that classic French charm without trying too hard, you know? Stone facade, those tall windows that actually open properly (thank god), and it sits on this tree-lined street that feels authentically Bordelais rather than touristy.
What really sold me was the neighborhood vibe – you’re basically in the sweet spot between the city center buzz and actual residential Bordeaux where people live their real lives. I mean, there’s this fantastic little bakery literally two minutes away where the locals queue up every morning for pain au chocolat that’s still warm. The tram line is close enough to be useful but far enough that you’re not dealing with that constant rumble all night. Actually, the whole area gets surprisingly quiet after 10 PM, which was perfect since I’m one of those people who needs actual darkness and silence to sleep properly. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re honest. Clean, comfortable beds that don’t creak when you move, decent-sized windows that let in proper light, and the kind of simple furnishings that work without making a big statement about it. The shower pressure was better than I expected – honestly better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed at in Paris.
Here’s what I appreciated most though: the staff actually seem to know their city. When I asked about getting to the wine bars in the Saint-Pierre district, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist spots. He sketched out this little route that took me through some gorgeous side streets I never would’ve found otherwise, and mentioned which places would be packed versus which ones locals actually prefer. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you can’t Google, you know? The 7.7 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bordeaux, but it delivers on what matters: clean, comfortable, well-located, and run by people who actually care about helping you experience their city properly. If you’re the type who values authentic neighborhood feel over marble lobbies and wants to wake up somewhere that feels like real Bordeaux rather than generic hotel-land, this place gets it right.

Reviews
A perfect stay in room 5 and I would be happy to return. – Susan from United Kingdom – 12 July 2025 (9/10)
So very easy from airport on Tram A, and to the hospital to visit someone each day which was the purpose of my visit. It also goes to central Bordeaux. Excellent artisan baker and petit Casino for provisions very close by. Other guests I met briefly were ‘gentil’. Very pleasant and safe neighbourhood – I am an old woman and arrived at 0100 hrs because flight severely delayed but I felt very safe in the deserted area. Many thanks to the owners.
What could be improved: Nothing except I suggest owners use /// what3words to help precise location of the door as I found that a bit hard with no-one to ask at that time of night. But their instructions were very useful, and they were very responsive on WhatsApp when my plane was very delayed.Comfy room. – Morgane from Netherlands – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
Nice room with nice decorations, good bathroom and bed. It is a little noisy as in you can hear your neighbors quite well or people going down the stairs. The contactless check-in takes a little bit of time to get used to but it was not inconvenient and works well once you've carefully read the instructions.
Overall, we had a good stay and would probably use the facility again in the future.Very good – Charlotte from United Kingdom – 10 July 2025 (8/10)
Brilliant location on the A tram, super convenient for airport and the centre but also in a cute neighborhood of its own.
Room faced inwards so it was very quiet. Aircon, kettle, comfy bed, nice ensuite shower. A very restful stay.
My host was very responsive when I had a question.Good – Finbar from Ireland – 3 May 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: Extremely basic but was ok for a couple of nights
Bed was super squeaky and very loud.We felt at home in this simple, spotless and completely delightful hotel for exploring Bordeaux. – Bill from France – 18 November 2024 (10/10)
The very unique and easy to navigate self-checkin system gave an excellent sense of security but was welcoming and gave us the feeling of a warm homey atmosphere. When the host came by with an extra table lamp, she was delightful and added to our feeling of being well cared for.
What could be improved: Honestly the facilities and overall experience far exceeded our expectations. Excellent access to the Tram system, a nice neighborhood. We actually found everything had been considered.Posizione strategica, sistemazione essenziale, camere nuove e pulite. – Vincenzo from Italy – 15 July 2025 (9/10)
Struttura essenziale e ben organizzata. Camere nuove, servizi moderni e perfettamente funzionali. Pulizia ottima. Posizione strategica, a pochi passi dalla fermata del tram che da un lato porta direttamente all'aeroporto e dall'altro in centro città con poche fermate. Contesto tranquillo e silenzioso.
What could be improved: La camera è di dimensioni giuste, aggiungerei qualche suppellettile, tipo attaccapanni.
Il letto è risultato non rigido, per me comodo perché lo preferisco così.Very good – Tony from France – 9 July 2025 (8/10)

Machine à café avec capsules offertes

What could be improved: Un mini-frigo dans la chambre ou ke salon commun aurait été bien
Petite table et chaise dans la chambre

L’emplacement
What could be improved: Pas de tapis de douche. On a glissé des foisVery good – Clément from France – 16 May 2025 (8/10)
situation dans bordeaux, qualité de la literie
What could be improved: l'isolation phonique améliorableTrès bien !! dommage pour les nuisances sonores ! – Dold from France – 28 April 2025 (7/10)
Les instructions précises du check-in, l accueil et la bienveillance de notre hôte Karol, le confort, les équipements au top, ainsi que la propreté des parties communes et de notre chambre (Dune) petit coin café et thé. Tram à 3 minutes de
L' établissement.
What could be improved: Un peu excentré du cœur de la ville.
