The windows are decent quality – I’m a light sleeper and actually slept through the night, which is saying something. During the day, there’s this gentle hum of city life that somehow feels comforting rather than overwhelming. You’ll hear the occasional church bell from Saint-Sernin, neighbors chatting in the courtyard, maybe someone practicing piano in the afternoon – it’s very much alive without being chaotic.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore Bordeaux properly. You’re close enough to walk to the tramway stops, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you feel like you’re living here rather than just visiting. There’s a wine shop two blocks down where the owner – this older gentleman with opinions about everything – will chat your ear off about local vintages if you let him. And if you’re planning to do any cooking, the Monoprix nearby has surprisingly good produce, though I’d still recommend hitting up the markets when you can.

One thing to mention – the building entrance is a bit tricky to spot if you’re arriving after dark. It’s one of those classic Bordeaux buildings where the door blends into the facade, and the street numbers aren’t exactly screaming at you. But once you figure it out (and your host will probably give you clear directions), you’ll appreciate how tucked away it feels. It’s like having a little secret base in the middle of one of France’s most beautiful cities.

The whole experience just felt… authentic, I guess? Like staying at a friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. You wake up, make coffee, step outside, and immediately feel connected to the rhythm of Bordeaux. That’s worth way more than fancy amenities, at least in my book.
