What really sold me was having a proper kitchen – you know how rare it is to find decent accommodation with parking AND a real kitchen right in the city center? The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel mattress backache, and the whole place feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying somewhere sterile. The parking situation alone is worth mentioning because, well, anyone who’s tried to navigate Bordeaux’s old streets with a rental car knows exactly what I’m talking about. You’ll save yourself about twenty minutes of circling blocks looking for a spot, plus you won’t have to worry about whether your car will still have side mirrors in the morning.

Location-wise, you’re literally on one of the main shopping streets, which sounds potentially annoying but actually isn’t too bad noise-wise – the double windows do their job pretty well. I could walk to Place de la Comédie in maybe eight minutes, and the tram stops are close enough that getting out to the wine regions is totally doable without dealing with city driving. What I really appreciated was being able to grab groceries at the Monoprix down the street and actually cook something instead of eating restaurant food every single meal (though honestly, with Bordeaux’s food scene, that wouldn’t be the worst problem to have). The whole Galeries area has this lived-in feel that tourist hotels just can’t replicate – you’ll see actual Bordelais doing their daily shopping, not just other travelers taking photos of their croissants.
