Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – the name of this place is a mouthful (FREE Parking – Self Checkin – WIFI – DUPLEX LA FUSTERIE – SUPERBORDEAUX), but honestly? They’re just telling you upfront what you actually care about. And you know what, that’s refreshing. This duplex apartment sits right on rue de la Fusterie in Bordeaux’s historic center, and I mean really in the thick of things. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Place du Parlement – that gorgeous square with all the wine bars where locals actually hang out, not just tourists. The self check-in thing works surprisingly well too; they send you a code and you just waltz in. No awkward small talk when you arrive at midnight after missing three trains.

The duplex setup is actually pretty clever – you get that separated feeling where the bedroom’s upstairs and you can spread out downstairs without feeling like you’re living in a shoebox. The WiFi works (shocking, I know), and parking in this part of Bordeaux is usually a nightmare, so having a guaranteed spot is worth its weight in wine. I mean, try finding parking near the cathedral district on a Saturday – good luck with that. The place has that slightly worn-in feel that three-star places often have, nothing fancy but clean and functional. You can hear a bit of street noise since you’re right in the center, but that’s city life for you. Actually adds to the atmosphere if you ask me – you’ll hear people wandering back from dinner around 11 PM, maybe some light chatter from the café downstairs in the morning.

What really sold me on this spot is the location within the location, if that makes sense. Sure, everyone talks about staying in Bordeaux’s old town, but rue de la Fusterie specifically puts you between the best parts. Walk one direction and you hit all those incredible wine shops near Saint-Pierre church where the shop owners actually know their stuff and won’t judge you for your budget. Walk the other way and you’re at the Garonne riverfront where the Saturday market happens – locals buying actual groceries, not just tourist trinkets. The 7.6 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. Plus, and this is key, you can actually afford to eat well in Bordeaux when you’re not dropping a fortune on accommodation. Trust me, save your euros for that dinner at Le Petit Commerce – you can walk there from the duplex in about eight minutes, and the seafood will make you forget all about thread counts and marble bathrooms.

Reviews

  • Superb – Sara from Austria – 7 June 2024 (9/10)

It was a very nice apartment, you have everything you need and it was clean as well as comfortable, easy self check-in.

What could be improved: That it's in the 5th floor without lift 😂

  • Good – Bas from Netherlands – 22 July 2025 (7/10)

Great location for discovering the city.
Parking in garage close by is good.

What could be improved: 5th floor and no elevator.
    Could be cleaner.
Not enough breakfast plates and cips for everyone.

  • Good – Iona from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (7/10)

    The location

  • Superb – Broadhurst from Australia – 2 April 2025 (9/10)

    Very close to everything

  • Great location but difficult to access. – Roxanne from Australia – 16 April 2024 (7/10)

The apartment is in the city centre, close walking distance to all tourist attractions and shops of all kinds.
The free parking was much appreciated.
Mr Raza was helpful and informative throughout all contact.

What could be improved: The 5 flights of stairs are very steep and not suitable for small children (under 10) or anyone over 60.
The kitchen power point blew the whole electric circuit each time we attempted to plug in the kettle or coffee machine, which was unsafe and alarming. We ended up boiling water in a saucepan on the stovetop to make tea/coffee.
There is no plug for the kitchen sink, so it was difficult to wash the cutlery and crockery.

  • Good for this price – Laura from Italy – 3 January 2024 (7/10)

The position is central and very comfortable to visit the city and enjoy the main attractions.

What could be improved: There is not the elevator and the house is in the 5th floor, the neighbours is not always safe. The apartment was not clean enough for ours standards.

  • 2 days in Bordeaux at Duplex La Fusterie – Andrea from Germany – 12 September 2022 (7/10)

10/10 for the Landlord. Support, communication etc.
10/10 for the organisation and Check-In procedures. Very clear. Easy.
10/10 for the free parking. Very good safe new covered car park also for SUV's no space problem.
10/10 for information and suggested trips in the surrounding area presented in the multilingual folders.
10/10 centrally positioned. Everything in walking distance.
    10/10 providing an AirCon.
10/10 for internet, TV, furniture etc.

What could be improved: Good to know in advance.
    – Stairs to 5th floor are very steep, comparable with stairs you might know when climbing the tower of an old cathedral. Means, come with a backpack. Suitcases can hardly be carried all the way as there is no space next to you. This was no issue to us, but might be important information to you.
    – The air quality and musty odor on entering the building is something you might not like.
    – Because the apartment is right under the roof, the temperature is high and the air is stuffy. Opening the window means quite some noise from the street. Running the air con improves this situation considerably but also means coping with a permanent high noise level from the ventilator. Being used to a quiet surrounding at home, we were not able to sleep well under these conditions
    – The pieces of rubber mats on the kitchen and bathroom floor seems to be a temporary solution. It felt uncomfortable walking barefoot on these mats.
    – The apartment is really very small. Smaller than we anticipated. In some areas (Top and bottom bedroom) you can not stand upright.

  • Amazing summer time. – Karen from Sweden – 2 July 2025 (10/10)

Amazing location, stylish building and well equipped apartment. Great support from the owner.

What could be improved: AC could be stronger. There was 39 degrees during my stay.

  • Perfect – Eirinn from Ireland – 15 September 2024 (10/10)

Very spacious and clean, all the facilities we needed including a hair dryer and hair straightener which we were delighted about. Perfect location and excellent price.

  • City break at the top of historic building. – Steven from United Kingdom – 26 September 2023 (10/10)

Great location for centre (and rugby World Cup Village). Secure, free underground parking nearby. Tram stop nearby to reach all the attractions. Apartment very well equipped and very comfortable.

What could be improved: It is a fifth floor apartment with no lift as stated in the details. (The stairs get easier as you get fitter.) Also as it is a loft apartment there are sloping ceilings over the beds.
