You know what struck me first about this place on Rue Raze? The building itself – it’s got that classic Bordeaux limestone thing going on, but honestly, you barely notice from the street because you’re too busy trying not to get run over by all the cyclists zipping around Les Chartrons. I mean, this neighborhood has seriously exploded in the last few years, and this apartment sits right in the thick of it.

The three rooms are actually spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re playing Tetris with your luggage, which – let’s be real – happens way too often in European city apartments. The owner clearly gets that travelers need actual space to spread out. What I loved most was how the windows face the right direction to catch that gorgeous afternoon light that Bordeaux does so well, especially if you’re there in late spring or early fall. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, not just some sad hotplate situation, which matters because you’re literally a two-minute walk from Marché des Chartrons where the locals actually shop. Pro tip: hit up the Saturday morning market – it gets absolutely packed with Bordelais families, but the cheese guy (you’ll know him when you see him) is worth the crowd.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the river in about five minutes – and I don’t mean a leisurely stroll, I mean a proper five-minute walk. The tram’s right there on Cours Xavier Arnozan if you need to get into the city center, though honestly, Les Chartrons has enough wine bars and bistros that you might not bother. The area gets pretty lively on weekend evenings, but the apartment’s positioned well enough that you hear the buzz without feeling like you’re sleeping above a nightclub. Parking can be tricky during the day – this is France, after all – but evenings aren’t too bad if you’re patient and don’t mind walking a block or two. The whole quartier has this great energy where it feels properly local but not like you’ve accidentally wandered into someone’s suburban neighborhood. You’ll see the same faces at the corner café, but there’s enough happening that it never feels sleepy or forgotten.

  Sehr gut ausgestattet. Jedoch muss man wissen, dass im Schlafzimmer das Bad mit Dusche ist. Generell super Apartment. Sogar Hausschuhe waren da 🙂

  Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete Wohnung mit gehobener Ausstattung. Die Wohnung liegt sehr zentral: nah beim Fluss und in einem Viertel mit vielen schönen Geschäften und Restaurants. Der Vermieter stand uns sehr nett und hilfsbereit bei allen Fragen zur Verfügung. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und unseren Aufenthalt genossen.
