Hotel Description
So I’ve stayed at Dod’s location 2 a few times now when I’m in Bordeaux, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. The first time I booked it, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical – the name doesn’t exactly scream luxury, and the location on Rue Blanqui isn’t where most tourists end up. But that’s actually part of what I’ve come to love about it. You’re in a proper residential neighborhood where real Bordelais live, which means you get authentic bakeries on your morning walk instead of tourist traps selling overpriced croissants.
The hotel itself is solidly three-star – nothing fancy, but everything works the way it should. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though I’d recommend asking for one facing away from the street if you’re a light sleeper. Rue Blanqui can get a bit busy during rush hour, but by evening it quiets down nicely. What I really appreciate is how the staff actually remembers you if you’ve been there before. Last time, the woman at reception remembered I prefer rooms on higher floors and sorted me out without me even asking. The check-in is usually pretty smooth, though I’ve noticed they can get a bit backed up on Sunday evenings when the weekend travelers are all arriving at once.
Here’s the thing about this location that took me a while to figure out – you’re actually perfectly positioned to explore Bordeaux like a local. The tram stop at Sainte-Catherine is maybe a ten-minute walk, which puts you straight into the city center, but you can also just wander through the Bastide area, which most visitors completely miss. There’s this great little market on Thursday mornings just a few streets over, and some seriously good wine bars tucked away in the side streets. I mean, it’s Bordeaux, so the wine is going to be excellent wherever you go, but there’s something special about finding those neighborhood spots where the bartender knows everyone’s name. The hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, but honestly, with all the options within walking distance, you don’t need one. Plus, they’ve got a decent breakfast setup that’ll fuel you up for the day without breaking the bank. Look, I won’t pretend this place is going to wow you with marble lobbies or rooftop pools, but if you want a reliable base to explore one of France’s most underrated cities without paying city center prices, Dod’s location 2 does the job really well.

Exceptional – Yuen from Hong Kong – 16 July 2025 (10/10)
Eccezionale appartamento – Stefano from Italy – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved:
