Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about this place? The name is honestly a mouthful – Dépendance Cosy dans Maison Bordelaise – but it actually tells you everything you need to know. This is basically a cozy little apartment carved out of one of those gorgeous traditional Bordeaux houses, and it sits right on Avenue du Parc de Lescure in Saint Augustin. I mean, you’re literally 200 meters from both the tram stop and the CHU hospital, which sounds clinical but is actually perfect if you need easy access to the city center or you’re visiting someone at the medical complex.

What I really loved about staying here was how it felt authentically Bordeaux without trying too hard. The building has that classic stone facade you see all over the city, but inside it’s been converted into this surprisingly modern and comfortable space. The Saint Augustin neighborhood isn’t touristy at all – it’s where actual Bordelais live and work – so you get this genuine slice of local life. There’s a little bakery just down the street where I grabbed croissants every morning, and honestly, the fact that you can hop on the tram and be in the historic center in about fifteen minutes makes this location kind of genius. The area gets pretty quiet in the evenings (which some people love, others might find a bit sleepy), but during the day there’s this nice residential buzz with people heading to work or the market.

The space itself lives up to that “cosy” promise – it’s not huge, but everything’s been thought through really well. I appreciated the little touches that showed someone actually cares about this place rather than just churning through Airbnb guests. The bed was properly comfortable, the shower had decent pressure (always a gamble in older French buildings), and there was enough storage space for a week’s worth of stuff. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area – it’s mostly street parking and you’ll want to pay attention to the signs – but honestly, with the tram right there, I barely used my car after the first day. The 9-star rating makes total sense to me because while this isn’t luxury accommodation, it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re looking for something that feels more like staying in a real Bordeaux neighborhood rather than a hotel bubble, and you want easy transport links without paying city center prices, this little place really hits the sweet spot.

A humble entrance via the cellar opens up to a five-star accommodation with a tiny but well-equipped kitchen, coffee machine with capsules, incredibly comfy bed, large TV with great sound, large shower with fantastic water pressure, covered terrace with outdoor dining option, and view onto garden (with chicken enclosure!). Clean, white and crisp. A quiet and well-maintained suburb of Bordeaux near the hospital with super easy access to the centre via tram. Just lovely!
