Okay, so I stumbled upon this little duplex on Rue Sainte-Philomène completely by accident – I was actually looking for a wine bar someone had recommended nearby – and honestly, it’s become one of those places I keep going back to when I’m in Bordeaux. The Chartrons district is having this amazing moment right now, you know? It’s got that perfect mix of authentic Bordeaux character without feeling touristy, and this place sits right in the sweet spot of it all.

What I love about staying here is that you’re literally living like a local for a few days. The duplex setup means you’ve got actual space to spread out – there’s something so satisfying about having a proper staircase in your accommodation, even if it’s just for a weekend. The morning light comes streaming through these tall windows that are so typically Bordeaux, and you can hear the neighborhood waking up around you. Actually, that’s one thing worth mentioning – mornings are pretty quiet, but Thursday evenings can get a bit lively with locals heading to the wine bars along Cours Portal. I mean, you’re in wine country, so embrace it, right?

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Bordeaux beyond the main tourist drag. You’re a five-minute walk from Quai des Chartrons where all the antique dealers set up (Saturday mornings are magical for browsing), and the tram stop at Chartrons is right there when you want to zip down to Place de la Bourse or cross over to the right bank. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you – some of the best natural wine bars in the city are scattered around this neighborhood. There’s this tiny place called Ghost Bottle just around the corner that locals guard like a secret, and the cheese shop on Rue Notre-Dame is where the restaurant chefs actually buy their stuff. You’ll find yourself doing grocery runs at the little Monoprix and cooking breakfast upstairs like you actually live here, which is sort of the whole appeal. Parking can be tricky during the day (typical Bordeaux), but evenings and weekends it’s totally manageable on the side streets. The whole area just has this lived-in authenticity that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though it’s becoming less of a secret every year.

  Hôte disponible et réactif, arrivée autonome et plusieurs places dans la rue.
  Bien placé, en quelques minutes nous sommes sur les quais.
  Lits, couette et oreillers très confortable, bonne qualité.
  3 clim donc parfaitement au frais.
  L'appart a dû cachet, c'est agréable, on s'y sent bien.
  
  What could be improved: Le canapé lit n'est pas top.
  Les places de stationnement sont chères mais bon c'est Bordeaux et proche du centre.
