Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked up to 55 Bis Rue Saint-Rémi, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s this narrow little street that feels tucked away from everything, but that’s actually what makes this studio so perfect. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Place de la Bourse (you know, that gorgeous square with the reflecting pool that everyone photographs), but you’re on this quiet residential street where locals actually live. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone facade, and while the entrance is pretty modest, the studio inside really delivers on that “cosy” promise.

The space is small – I mean, it’s a studio, so let’s be realistic here – but whoever designed it actually thought about how people live. The air conditioning works brilliantly (and trust me, you’ll need it in July and August when Bordeaux gets seriously humid), and there’s this great little kitchenette that’s actually functional, not just for show. What I loved most was the morning light – the windows face east, so you get this soft glow that makes the whole place feel bigger than it is. The bed’s comfortable enough, though if you’re over six feet tall you might feel a bit cramped. There’s decent storage space, which is rare in these old Bordeaux apartments, and the bathroom’s been renovated recently – clean, modern, good water pressure.

Location-wise, this is where the place really shines. You’re right in the heart of the old city, but Rue Saint-Rémi stays surprisingly quiet at night. I was worried about noise since French city centers can get pretty lively, but honestly, I slept well every night. You can walk to the cathedral in about eight minutes, hit the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins in ten, and – this is key – you’re close enough to all the wine bars on Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges that you can stumble home safely after a proper Bordeaux evening. Parking’s going to be your biggest headache if you’re driving; there’s a paid lot about five minutes away, but street parking is basically impossible. The tram stop at Place de la Bourse connects you to everything else you might want to see, though honestly, most of what you’ll care about in Bordeaux is walkable from here. That 9.4 rating makes total sense – it’s not luxury, but it nails everything a traveler actually needs: location, comfort, and that lived-in feeling that makes you feel like you’re experiencing Bordeaux rather than just visiting it.

What could be improved: Vecinos ruidosos (que no es imputable al apartamento), aunque las paredes divisorias parecen muy finas y se oye todo.
