Hotel Description
So here’s the thing about this little apartment on Rue des Faussets – it’s basically everything you want when you’re staying in Bordeaux without all the hotel nonsense. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Place de la Bourse, which is honestly where every tourist ends up taking photos anyway, but you don’t have to deal with the chaos of staying right on top of it.
The apartment itself feels properly lived-in (in a good way), like someone actually cares about the place rather than just cramming in generic furniture and calling it a day. The kitchen’s small but functional – I actually made coffee there every morning instead of hunting down overpriced café au lait, though honestly, with Café de l’Opéra just around the corner on Cours de l’Intendance, you might not want to. The 8.4 rating makes sense because it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just solid and comfortable. You know what really sold me? The windows actually open properly, and the street’s quiet enough that you can leave them open without wanting to murder delivery trucks at 6 AM.
Location-wise, you’re in that sweet spot where locals actually live but tourists don’t usually venture unless they know what they’re doing. Rue Sainte-Catherine – that massive pedestrian shopping street – is basically a three-minute walk, but you can also duck into those tiny wine bars on Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges that most visitors never find. The tram stops at Hôtel de Ville or Grand Théâtre are close enough that you don’t need to think about it, which matters if you’re planning day trips to Saint-Émilion or just want to hit the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins without dealing with parking drama. Speaking of parking – good luck with that anywhere in this neighborhood, but honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re here. The building’s old (like, properly old French building old), so don’t expect an elevator, but the staircase has character and it’s not a brutal climb. Check-in was straightforward, no weird key-collection adventures or confusing instructions. For a 3-star place, it punches above its weight because it gets the basics right and doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.
