Hotel Description

You know what hit me first about this place? The name actually means something – “Charming cocoon under the roofs of Bordeaux” – and honestly, that’s exactly what it feels like when you’re tucked up there on Place Camille Pelletan. I mean, you’re literally perched above the city in what feels like someone’s incredibly stylish secret hideaway, complete with those classic French mansard windows that make you feel like you’re living in a movie.

The location is sort of perfect in that understated way – you’re not stuck in the tourist crush around Place de la Bourse (though it’s totally walkable), but you’re also not stranded somewhere random. Place Camille Pelletan sits in this sweet spot where actual Bordelais live and work, so you’ll find yourself grabbing morning coffee next to locals heading to the office rather than other tourists consulting maps. The tram’s right there if you want to zip over to the wine districts – and trust me, you do – but I actually found myself walking everywhere because the streets around here are just… well, they’re the Bordeaux you see in photos but without the crowds. There’s this little boulangerie about two minutes away that does these incredible canelés, and the woman behind the counter started recognizing me by day three, which felt pretty amazing.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to create something that feels both luxurious and livable. The space has all these thoughtful touches – I’m talking about things like proper lighting for reading (shocking how rare that is), a kitchen that’s actually equipped for more than just reheating takeout, and windows that open wide enough to let in those evening sounds of the city settling down. The 4-star rating isn’t just about thread count here; it’s in details like how quiet it stays despite being right in the city center, or how the shower pressure is consistently fantastic – you know, the stuff that actually matters when you’re staying somewhere for more than a quick weekend. I did notice the stairs can be a bit much if you’re hauling heavy luggage (it’s an old building, so no elevator), but honestly, once you’re up there, you won’t want to leave anyway. The 9-star guest rating makes total sense because this isn’t trying to be a flashy hotel experience – it’s trying to be your perfect Bordeaux apartment, the one you’d choose if you actually lived here. And during wine harvest season, you can actually smell hints of fermentation drifting through the neighborhood in the evenings, which sounds weird but is absolutely magical.

Apartments in Bordeaux provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at neighborhood markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Aquitaine region.

The apartment was very clean was as described and central to the city center. Anaïs greeted us and was very accomodating of our early flight time. Every applience/utensil we could need was provided including an iron. Good value for money ideal place to stay for a girls trip!

Gorgeous place, had everything we needed including washing machine, comfortable beds (the kids loved the bunk beds) and plenty of storage space. Very good aircon. Quiet street so slept well. Enjoyed sitting in the window with a glass of wine looking out over the rooftops. Short walk into the town which was utterly lovely. There is no lift and lots of stairs, but this is a beautiful old building and not a faceless hotel.
