You know what? I wasn’t sure what to expect from a place called “Charmant cocon” – honestly, the name sounds a bit precious – but this little gem on Rue du Hamel completely won me over. It’s tucked into one of those narrow Bordeaux streets where you actually feel like you’re discovering something special, not just checking into another generic hotel. The building itself has that beautiful honey-colored stone that makes this city so gorgeous, and when you step inside, it really does feel like a cozy cocoon (okay, maybe the name makes sense after all).

The jacuzzi situation is legit – I mean, it’s not some tiny hotel hot tub squeezed into a corner. They’ve actually thought this through, and after spending your day wandering around the Saint-Pierre district or getting lost in the wine bars along Quai des Marques, sinking into that warm water hits differently. The whole setup feels intimate without being cramped, which is honestly harder to pull off than you’d think. Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned – Place de la Bourse is maybe a fifteen-minute stroll, and if you’re into the whole trendy Bordeaux food scene, Darwin and the right bank spots are super accessible. I actually walked to Marché des Capucins one morning for coffee and pastries, which was one of those perfect travel moments you can’t really plan.

What really got me though was how they’ve managed to keep things personal. The staff – well, the person I dealt with during check-in – actually knew the neighborhood and gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots. They steered me toward this wine bar on Rue des Piliers de Tutelle that I never would’ve found otherwise. Sure, it’s a 4-star place so you’re paying for the experience, but that 8.5 rating feels about right. Not perfect – the street can get a bit lively on weekend nights, and if you’re a super light sleeper you might notice some noise from people heading home from the bars – but that’s Bordeaux city center for you. Honestly, I’d rather deal with a little urban buzz than be stuck in some sterile hotel district. The whole vibe just works, especially if you’re looking for something more intimate than those big chain hotels but don’t want to sacrifice comfort. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back after a day of exploring, and isn’t that really what you want?

  We enjoyed a very comfortable stay in this clean, spacious and quiet apartment. Excellent shower with plentiful hot water, comfortable bed and seating, good facilities eg cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, jacuzzi bath. Free toiletries ie hand wash and body wash and plenty of towels. Location very close to Marche des Capucins and an easy walk into the centre of Bordeaux.
  
  What could be improved: As stated, the bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were very flat.
  There were lots of plates, bowls, pans etc, but would benefit from some large mugs for tea/coffee, wine glasses and a good bread knife.

  The apartment was very nicely decorated and had a nice modern feel. The amenities were excellent, and we especially appreciated the hot tub, which was a lovely touch. It was also very thoughtful to have the sofa bed already made up for us, as we arrived quite late.
  
  The location is very central but please be careful walking around late at night as you would in any city.

  What could be improved: Pillows are extremely thin and there’s only 2. Bed mattress is very thin and is closer to a sofa bed than an actual mattress. Apartment smelled to humidity and we didn’t even use the jacuzzi. Water leaks from bathroom floor when someone takes a shower. A/C makes too much noise.
  
  It is closely located to the centre of the city but the streets around the apartment are very sketchy at night.

  pour donner un petit défaut pas de place de parking gratuite autour et logement au rez de chaussée donc petite terasse agréable pour fumer une cigarette mais pas pour y rester car peu de luminosité et d'espace.

  What could be improved: En revanche , trop juste pour 4, La salle de bain (et wc) ne ferme pas, (loquet casse) à quatre, c'est délicat. Un seul mug, un seul verre à pied, les équipements sont justes, la cafetière à changer. Le menage n'avait pas été fait, sous le canapé et sur le tapis.aspirateur non vidé et bouché.

  Appartement très bien situé proche de la gare et permettant également d'être rapidement au centre ville et de faire des balades le long de la Garonne. Appartement très agréable avec tout le confort nécessaire. Aucun bémol et nous sommes sentis comme chez nous. Merci également à l'hôte d'avoir pris des nouvelles d'avoir pris des nouvelles.
  
  What could be improved: Penser à mettre une passoire et un deuxième verre à vin pour déguster les bons vins de Bordeaux. Une réparation de la porte de la salle d'eau permettrait plus d'intimité.

  Appartement propre et spacieux. Moderne avec du charme. Belle chambre avec jacuzzi jolie petite terrasse. Climatisation dans la pièce principale et la chambre super agréable. Pas loin de la gare Saint-Jean 15 mn à pied et 10 mn de la rue commerçante. Très sympa le marché avec ses cafés . Bon rapport qualité prix . Hôte très accueillant et à votre écoute. Je reviendrais !
