CHAMBRES chez l’habitant Córdoba et Lhassa Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to CHAMBRES chez l’habitant Córdoba et Lhassa on Rue de Rigoulet, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical hotel experience. It’s tucked into the Saint Augustin neighborhood, and honestly, the whole setup feels more like staying with a well-traveled friend than checking into a standard three-star property. The building has that classic Bordeaux charm — you know, the kind of stone facade that makes you slow down and actually look up from your phone for once.
The Saint Augustin Experience
This neighborhood is actually one of Bordeaux’s best-kept secrets, and I mean that in the most genuine way possible. You’re close enough to the city center that a tram ride gets you there in minutes, but far enough out that you feel like you’re living among actual Bordelais rather than just passing through. There’s a morning market nearby that locals actually use — not the touristy kind — and couples seem to particularly love wandering these quieter streets together. The location rating of 9.5 from couples makes perfect sense when you experience how peaceful yet connected this area feels.
The Rooms and Atmosphere
The “chez l’habitant” part of the name tells you everything you need to know about the vibe here. These aren’t cookie-cutter hotel rooms; they feel more like thoughtfully designed guest quarters in someone’s home. The decor has this interesting mix that somehow works — there are touches that hint at both Córdoba and Lhassa (hence the name, I assume), creating spaces that feel well-traveled without being cluttered. You’ll find yourself actually wanting to spend time in your room rather than just crashing there at night, which is rarer than you’d think in this price range.
Morning Rituals
The continental breakfast here isn’t going to blow your mind, but it does something more important — it sets the right tone for exploring Bordeaux. There’s something refreshing about starting your day without the chaos of a massive hotel dining room. You get your coffee, some proper French pastries, and maybe chat with other guests who’ve clearly chosen this place for the same reasons you have. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you feel like you’re easing into the city rather than rushing through it.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.2 rating isn’t an accident — this place just gets the balance right between comfort and authenticity. You’re staying somewhere that feels genuinely connected to Bordeaux rather than floating above it in some generic hotel bubble. The hosts clearly understand that travelers want to feel like they’re experiencing the city, not just visiting it. Plus, there’s something to be said for a place where couples consistently rate the location so highly — it suggests those quiet evening walks and morning coffee runs really do feel special here.

The breakfast was delicious. The host were really friendly and answered any questions we had. The room was cozy, the bathroom was nice too. The room had a very pleasant smell to it too. The huge window and the bathroom skylight let in a ton of light. It was close to the tram too.

Lovely tastefully decorated room with a beautiful big bathroom. Very kind host. Nice to eat breakfast in the garden. Very quiet despite being in the centre of Bordeaux and perfectly situated for us.
