Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Casa Blanca B&B on Rue de la Course – I mean, the Chartrons district has become pretty trendy, but this quiet residential street still feels refreshingly normal. But wow, this place completely changed my perspective on what a 4-star B&B can actually be. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone really cares about every detail here, and that 9.6 rating suddenly makes perfect sense.
What I love about staying here is how it strikes this perfect balance between feeling like you’re in someone’s beautifully curated home and having all the little luxuries you actually want. The rooms have this understated elegance – think crisp white linens, carefully chosen antique pieces, and these gorgeous wooden floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a centuries-old building. The breakfast situation is honestly incredible (and I’m picky about breakfast) – fresh pastries from what I’m pretty sure is the bakery around the corner on Cours Portal, local jams, and coffee that’s strong enough to fuel your wine-tasting adventures later. You know what really impressed me though? The owners clearly know Bordeaux inside and out, and they’re genuinely excited to share their recommendations. None of that generic tourist trap nonsense – they’ll send you to the wine bar that locals actually frequent or tell you which tram line gets you to the Saturday market without the crowds.
The location is sort of perfect if you want to experience Bordeaux like someone who lives there rather than just checking off tourist boxes. Chartrons used to be the wine merchant quarter, so you’re surrounded by these converted warehouses that now house incredible restaurants and wine shops – Quai des Chartrons is literally a five-minute walk and it’s where some of the best wine tastings happen. Plus, you can easily walk to the historic center (about 15 minutes along the river, which is lovely), or hop on the tram right at the corner. Parking can be tricky on the street, but there’s a public lot nearby that won’t break the bank. The only minor thing I’d mention is that weekend evenings can get a bit lively since there are some popular spots in the neighborhood, but honestly, it dies down by 11 PM and adds to the authentic local vibe. I’ve stayed at fancier hotels in Bordeaux’s city center, but I keep coming back to Casa Blanca because it feels like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it.

The staff was super lovely and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The building was very pretty and in a great location. Felt like your own piece of Bordeaux while staying there. And they vacuumed the rooms every day. Would definitely stay here again!

This is the best stay in Bordeaux. If you are visiting as a couple, there is nowhere more romantic, relaxing and beautiful than Casa Blanca. The ambiance and amenities are perfect, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was fantastic and very fresh, with cooked items providing a delicious and flavourful experience. The staff shared great knowledge on the area and helped us find an unforgettable evening meal reservation at a local restaurant. Overall, one of the best stays we’ve had – very happy customers!

We liked everything about this place. The fabulous breakfast, the exceptional staff, and the accommodating host, Gildas. The room was quite grand, and the hotel was just a short walk to the public gardens–very scenic.
