Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Bordeaux, and By Homy caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Rue de la Tour du Pin – you know, that quiet street that runs parallel to the busier Cours Victor Hugo – and honestly, the location is kind of perfect if you actually want to feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. The building itself has that understated French elegance thing going on, nothing flashy, but when you walk in there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cared about the details.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between boutique charm and practical comfort. The rooms – and I mean this – actually feel like spaces you’d want to hang out in, not just crash in after a long day of sightseeing. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m talking about the kind where you don’t wake up with a crick in your neck), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase in a closet. The bathrooms are well-designed too, with decent water pressure – honestly, you’d be surprised how many places mess that up. I stayed there during the autumn wine harvest season when Bordeaux gets pretty busy, and while you can hear a bit of street life during the day, it’s surprisingly quiet at night.
The neighborhood is what really sold me though. You’re about a ten-minute walk from Place Gambetta, which puts you right in the heart of things without dealing with the tourist crowds that cluster around the Grand Théâtre area. There’s this fantastic little bakery – Boulangerie des Capucins – just two streets over where locals actually line up for their morning coffee, and you’ve got easy access to the tram if you want to head down to the river or out to the wine regions. The staff genuinely knows the area too, not just the typical tourist spots but actual recommendations for where to eat dinner on a Tuesday night or which wine bars won’t completely drain your budget. Check-in was smooth, no weird policies or surprise fees, and they let me store my bags after checkout while I wandered around the city center one last time. With an 8.8 rating, you know you’re getting quality, but what you might not expect is how much it feels like staying somewhere with personality rather than just another polished hotel room.

Very good location, almost in the centre near the old town. Complementary bottle of Bordeaux awaited us and that was very nice from the host. The appartments are realy cosy and quiet. High ceilings create good ambiance and comfort for living. The bed and linen were of very good quality. In case of traveling to Bordeaux would stay there again.

Good apartment. Thank goodness for fan as it reached y39°C one day and very stuffy and humid throughout. As these are 18th century buildings, air conditioning wouldn’t be allowed.
