Hotel Description
You know what surprised me most about L’Appart Place du Palais? It’s actually right there on the square with the Palais de Justice, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy at all. I mean, you’re literally steps from Bordeaux’s main courthouse – which sounds boring until you realize this puts you smack in the heart of the old city, with those gorgeous 18th-century facades all around you. The apartment itself (and that’s really what it is, not some cookie-cutter hotel room) has this lived-in elegance that makes you feel like you’re staying at a well-traveled friend’s place. The kitchen actually works – I’m talking full-sized fridge, proper coffee maker, the kind of setup where you can honestly make breakfast instead of just heating up instant noodles.
What really gets me is how they’ve managed to keep the character of the building while making everything feel fresh. The floors have that slight creak that tells you this place has stories, but the bathroom is spotless modern and the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I could mention. From the windows you can watch the daily rhythm of Bordeaux unfold – locals cutting through the square with their morning bread, the occasional wedding party spilling out of the Palais, street musicians setting up shop near the fountain. It’s prime people-watching territory, honestly. And here’s something you won’t find in the guidebooks: there’s this little wine bar called Le Petit Commerce just around the corner on Rue du Parlement Saint-Pierre that the locals actually go to. Not the tourist trap stuff – I’m talking about where the courthouse workers grab their evening glass.
The thing about staying right in Place du Palais is that you’re walking distance from everything that matters, but you’re also on a relatively quiet square at night. Sure, you’ll hear some evening chatter from the cafés, but it’s not like staying near the party streets around Place de la Victoire. I actually slept better here than at some countryside places. Plus – and this is crucial if you’re driving – there’s paid parking right on the square, which is basically a miracle in central Bordeaux. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should. The kind of place where you start planning your next Bordeaux trip before you’ve even checked out.

I highly recommend it. – Beverly from United States – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
This place is really great. charming, stylish, quiet, view of the Place and lots of light. The location was in the beautiful old town center. Next to the tram and only a block from the river.
What could be improved: L’absence de micro ondes !Superb – Michael from Australia – 22 June 2025 (9/10)
