Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked into this Chartrons apartment, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone – “superbe T2” sounds like every other rental listing in France, right? But you know what actually surprised me? The terrasse. It’s not huge, but it’s got this perfect morning light that hits just right when you’re having coffee, and you can actually see a slice of the Garonne if you crane your neck a bit.

The location is what really makes this place work though. Rue Denise is tucked into the quieter part of Chartrons – I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to all those wine bars along Cours Portal and the weekend market at Place des Chartrons (seriously, go on Saturday morning), but you won’t have drunk tourists stumbling past your windows at 2 AM like you would closer to the quais. The building itself is typical Bordeaux stone, probably 19th century, with those tall windows that actually open properly – which matters more than you’d think in summer since there’s no AC. But honestly? The cross-breeze works pretty well with the terrasse door open.

Inside, it’s a solid two-room setup that doesn’t try to be fancy but gets the basics right. The kitchen is small but functional – I cooked actual meals there, not just reheated takeout – and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that awful rental-mattress back pain. What I really appreciated were the little details: good water pressure in the shower, decent Wi-Fi that didn’t cut out every ten minutes, and enough electrical outlets that I didn’t have to choose between charging my phone and using the coffee maker. The decor is… well, it’s fine. Sort of modern-ish with some local touches, nothing Instagram-worthy but nothing offensive either.

Parking can be a bit of a dance – there’s street parking but you’ll probably circle the block a few times during busy periods. Though honestly, once you’re settled, you barely need a car. The trams are right there (line B is your friend), and walking into central Bordeaux takes maybe 20 minutes along the river, which is actually pretty nice. I found myself doing that walk a lot, especially in the evening when the light hits all that limestone architecture just right. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel too – there’s a decent boulangerie two streets over, a little épicerie that stays open late, and you’ll see the same faces at the local café counter most mornings. It feels like staying in an actual Bordeaux neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble, which is exactly what I was hoping for when I picked this place over those sterile hotels near the cathedral.

Early hotels booking in Bordeaux is essential during major events like the Wine Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned vineyards and gastronomy.

  • Acogedor, recomendable – Marta from Spain – 23 July 2024 (8/10)

Y recomiendo llevar antimosquitos!!!! Había muchos mosquitos y nos molestaban al dormir.

  • Adresse à conseiller sans problème – Christophe from France – 16 July 2023 (9/10)

Emplacement bien situé pour visiter la ville. Quartier calme.

What could be improved: Algún mosquito.

  • Exceptional – Uxue from Spain – 3 April 2024 (10/10)
