Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of apartments in Bordeaux, and this one on Rue Ausone actually surprised me – in the best way possible. When you first walk up, it’s this beautifully renovated space that manages to feel both historic and completely modern at the same time. The renovation work is honestly impressive; whoever did it understood that you don’t gut a place like this, you work with what Bordeaux gives you. The exposed stone walls and original architectural details are still there, but everything else feels fresh and thoughtfully updated.

What really got me was the location – I mean, you’re literally steps from Place du Palais, which means you can stumble out your door and be at some of the city’s best wine bars in about two minutes. But here’s the thing that most people don’t realize about this area: it’s touristy during the day, sure, but evenings get surprisingly quiet. The crowds thin out after dinner, and you get this lovely sense of having the historic center mostly to yourself. Plus, and this is huge for Bordeaux, the parking situation is actually sorted. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve circled the Chartrons or Saint-Pierre looking for a spot, so having dedicated parking here is worth its weight in gold – especially if you’re planning day trips to Saint-Émilion or the coast.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s well-curated home rather than a rental property. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just the bare minimum you usually get), and the living spaces have that lived-in comfort that makes you want to actually spend time there rather than just crash between sightseeing. I honestly found myself lingering over morning coffee longer than planned, just enjoying the light coming through those tall windows. The WiFi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to research restaurants or book wine tours. What strikes me most is how the place captures that effortless French elegance without feeling precious about it – you know what I mean? It’s polished but not intimidating, comfortable but still special enough that you feel like you’re really experiencing Bordeaux rather than just visiting it.

  Very clean, comfortable, and well decorated. Loved the space and the ability to also do laundry. When we arrived it was spotless!

  Very clean, newly renovated apartment in an excellent location. Well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds and a powerful shower. Near the river front and close to restaurants and cafes. Close to public transport, and easily accessible by tram from the railway station and airport. There’s no lift but the one flight of stairs is quite manageable.
  
  What could be improved: You have to go through the first bedroom to get to the second one – that made it a bit difficult to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without disturbing the other person. Because it’s in a lively area, there was a bit of noise during the night – not too bad with the double glazed windows closed, but I’d find it difficult on a warm night with the windows open.

  The location was wonderful , walking distance to many fun restaurants and shops. The interior was comfortable and updated. The apartment manager was helpful with many needs.
