Walking up to 75 Rue Henri IV, I honestly expected just another cookie-cutter apartment rental, but this place actually has some character to it. The building sits right in that sweet spot between Bordeaux’s old-school charm and having everything you need within walking distance – and I mean actually walking distance, not that “short 20-minute stroll” nonsense you see in other listings.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re basically wedged between the Capucins market (which, honestly, gets wonderfully chaotic on weekend mornings) and the Victoire area where locals actually hang out. I loved that I could grab fresh produce and cheese for breakfast, then wander over to Place de la Victoire for evening drinks without feeling like a total tourist. The apartment itself feels more spacious than most Bordeaux rentals – you know how these old buildings can be cramped, but whoever designed this space actually thought about how real people live. The kitchen isn’t just for show, which… well, if you’ve stayed in European apartment rentals before, you know that’s not always a given.

What really sold me was the little details that show someone who actually lives in Bordeaux set this place up. There’s proper coffee equipment (not just instant packets), the shower has decent water pressure – I mean, it’s not life-changing, but after a day walking around the city, you’ll appreciate it. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the space, and there’s enough natural light that you don’t feel like you’re hiding in a cave. Parking can be a bit tricky around here, but that’s true for most of central Bordeaux, and honestly, you probably won’t need a car much anyway. The tram stops are close enough that getting to the wine regions for day trips is pretty straightforward. One thing to know – weekend nights can get a little lively since you’re near the university area, but it’s more “people having a good time” noise than anything obnoxious. For a 4-star spot with an 8 rating, it delivers on being comfortable without trying too hard to be fancy. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a place that feels like a good friend’s apartment rather than a sterile hotel room.
