Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually a proper apartment, not some tiny hotel room squeezed into an old building. The moment I walked into the ground floor unit on Rue de l’Arsenal, I realized I’d have actual space to spread out – which, honestly, is rare in central Bordeaux without paying through the nose.
The location is pretty clever if you know the city. Arsenal street sounds fancy, but it’s this quiet residential stretch that locals use as a shortcut between the tram and the historic center. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk to the Croix de Seguey tram stop (hence the name), and that D line takes you straight into the heart of things without dealing with parking nightmares or those narrow medieval streets that’ll destroy your rental car’s bumper. The apartment itself has that typical Bordeaux stone exterior – nothing flashy, but solid in that French way where buildings last centuries. Inside, it’s been updated without going overboard with modern touches that feel cold.
What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup. It’s not just a mini-fridge and hot plate situation – you can actually cook if you want, which saved me a fortune during my week there. The bathroom’s compact but functional, and the bedroom gets surprisingly good natural light for a ground floor place. There’s street noise in the mornings when people are heading to work, but nothing terrible, and it quiets down completely by evening. The whole area has this lived-in neighborhood feel rather than tourist central, so you’ll see families walking to school and locals grabbing bread at the corner boulangerie. Parking can be tricky during weekdays – there’s street parking but it fills up with commuters heading into town, so factor that in if you’re driving. The host was straightforward about check-in, no drama there.
Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the three-star rating is pretty accurate – it’s comfortable and clean without being luxurious. But for the price point in Bordeaux, especially with that tram connection, it’s actually a smart choice. You get the space of an apartment, you’re close enough to walk into the center when the weather’s nice, and you’re in a real neighborhood instead of some sterile hotel district. Perfect for people who want to experience Bordeaux like a temporary local rather than just another tourist checking boxes.
