Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first pulled up to the B&B HOTEL on Rue Lucien Faure, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked into this industrial-turned-trendy part of Bordeaux that most tourists never see. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes it interesting. The Bassins à flot area has this whole transformed vibe going on, where old shipping warehouses are becoming art spaces and cafés, and you’re literally a stone’s throw from where all the action is happening without dealing with the tourist crowds in the old city center.
The hotel itself feels refreshingly straightforward – no pretentious lobby chandeliers or overly eager staff trying to upsell you on everything. I mean, it’s a 3-star place and they know it, which I actually appreciate. The rooms are clean and modern without being sterile, and here’s something I noticed that probably saved my sanity: the windows actually block out street noise pretty well. That might not sound like much, but when you’re staying near an area that’s still got some port activity during the day, you’ll thank me for mentioning it. The beds are comfortable enough (though honestly, after walking around Bordeaux’s cobblestones all day, anything horizontal feels amazing), and the bathroom setup is smart – compact but everything you need is there and works properly.
What really sold me on this place was the location, though – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way. Walk about ten minutes toward the river and you’ll hit the new wine museum, which is this crazy modern building that looks like it landed from space. But more importantly for your daily life, there’s this little bakery called Du Pain et des Idées about five minutes away where locals actually go for their morning coffee – not the tourist traps you’ll find near Place de la Bourse. The tram line is right there too, so getting into central Bordeaux takes maybe fifteen minutes, but you’re staying in a neighborhood that feels alive and real. Parking was surprisingly manageable (they have spots, but also street parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to downtown), and check-in was quick – no drama, just “here’s your key, elevator’s over there.” Sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long travel day. The rating of 8 out of 10 feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises, and in a city where hotel prices can get pretty steep, especially during wine season, that’s worth something.

They were super friendly and accommodating. I was in the process of moving into an apartment and had a ton of luggage with me that they allowed me to keep behind their desk. I also had a dog, and they’re dog-friendly, so it was great!
