Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to 112 Rue Mac Carthy in Cauderan, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Bordeaux, but once you find entrance 112 (and yes, that bit is actually important because there are multiple entrances), you realize you’ve stumbled onto something good. Au Point Carré turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises where the apartment is way more comfortable than you’d guess from the street.

The place really lives up to its “tout confort au calme” promise, which honestly surprised me because Cauderan can get busy during the day. But this particular stretch of Mac Carthy is tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise – something I definitely appreciated after a few long days wandering around Bordeaux’s city center. The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, you know? Not in a messy way, but it’s got personality instead of that sterile hotel vibe. The kitchen is properly equipped (I mean really equipped, not just a mini-fridge and coffee maker), and the living space has enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What I really loved was the bedroom setup – the bed is genuinely comfortable, and there are proper blackout curtains, which is clutch if you’re dealing with jet lag or just want to sleep in after exploring the wine bars in Chartrons the night before.

The location works really well if you want to feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the historic center, but honestly, that’s kind of perfect because you get to see how the city actually functions beyond the tourist zones. There’s a decent little market just a few streets over on Avenue Thiers, and if you walk about ten minutes toward the Garonne, you hit some genuinely good neighborhood bistros that don’t feel like they’re performing for tourists. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – I managed to find street spots most days, though you’ll want to pay attention to the local parking signs because they’re pretty strict about enforcement. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the check-in process requires a bit of coordination since it’s an apartment building rather than a hotel lobby situation, but the owners were actually really responsive and made it work smoothly. For a 3-star place with an 8 rating, it definitely delivers on comfort and that “local living” experience without breaking the bank.
