It’s tucked into this quiet residential street that’s maybe a seven-minute walk from Gare Saint-Jean, and I mean actually quiet – not the kind of “quiet” you get when you’re right on the main drag with buses rumbling past at 6 AM.

The studio itself feels way more thoughtful than most places in this category. Someone clearly spent time thinking about how people actually live, not just where they sleep for a night. The kitchen setup is properly functional (I made coffee every morning and even attempted some pasta one evening), and there’s this nice balance between having your own space while still feeling connected to the neighborhood. The whole Bauducheu area has this lived-in vibe that I really liked – you’ve got your typical Bordelais limestone buildings, a few local cafés where people actually seem to know each other’s names, and it’s close enough to the Garonne that you can walk down to the river pretty easily. What surprised me most was how well-insulated it is from street noise, which honestly wasn’t something I expected given how close it is to the station.

Here’s the thing about staying near Gare Saint-Jean – and locals will tell you this – it’s actually a smart move if you want to explore beyond Bordeaux proper. Sure, you’re not in the heart of the old city with all the wine bars and tourist spots, but you’re positioned perfectly for day trips to Saint-Émilion or even the coast. Plus, the tram connection into central Bordeaux is straightforward, and parking in this neighborhood doesn’t require a degree in urban planning like it does closer to Place de la Bourse. The check-in process was refreshingly simple too – none of that awkward waiting around in a lobby situation. I appreciated the little touches that showed someone was paying attention: good water pressure, decent Wi-Fi that actually worked, and windows that open properly (you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong). It’s earned that 8.4 rating honestly – not because it’s trying to be something fancy, but because it does the fundamentals really well while giving you a genuine sense of what it’s like to live in this part of Bordeaux, even if it’s just for a few days.

  I loved the duplex apartment I stayed in beautifully furnished very comfortable. Lovely courtyard and very quiet. Only 5mins to train station. Samira, the hostess is lovely. I will definitely stay there again.

  Flat in a well-kept house. It is bright, very quiet (sounds from the street do not come), clean, good even for 3 people who sleep separately (large bed in the bedroom and two pieces of furniture for sleeping in the living room). Well equipped in terms of white goods (washing machine, iron, coffee machine, etc).
  Very good location for those who want to visit the surrounding towns – Arcachon, Saint-Emilion, Toulouse… (the train station is 2 minutes away).

  It is located very close to the train station. There is some good restaurants and a supermarket nearby. Everything was clean. Very nice apartment. I would rent again!

  The apartment was a nice distance from Gare Saint Jean and the tram to get around Bordeaux. Very comfortable and spacious. The skylights added lots of light to the whole apartment. The washer and dryer were very convenient and great to have on our month long holiday.
