You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name sounds like some medieval wizard’s lair, but honestly – it kind of delivers on that promise. I mean, you’re staying in what’s basically someone’s apartment on the third floor of this classic Bordeaux building on Rue Ausone, and the owner has gone completely over the top with a 4K laser cinema setup that made my Netflix-and-chill friend back home weep with envy.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Bordeaux at all. Rue Ausone puts you right in the thick of the city center – I could walk to Place de la Bourse in about eight minutes, and the tram stops are close enough that you can hear them rumble by occasionally (not annoyingly loud, just that gentle city hum that reminds you you’re somewhere vibrant). What really sold me was the parking situation, which, let’s be honest, is usually a nightmare in French city centers. Here they’ve actually sorted it out, so you’re not circling blocks at 9 PM trying to squeeze into some impossible parallel parking spot while French drivers honk behind you.

The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile hotel-clean, which I actually prefer – there’s character in the old wooden floors and the way the light filters through those tall French windows. But then you get to the cinema setup and it’s like stepping into the future. The owner clearly obsessed over this 4K laser projector system, and honestly, after a day of wandering around the wine bars near Saint-Pierre, collapsing onto their couch to watch something mindless in crystal-clear quality felt pretty perfect. The sound system is good enough that you feel every explosion, but the walls are thick enough that I never worried about annoying the neighbors (though I did keep it reasonable after 10 PM because, you know, manners). It’s one of those places where you end up staying in more than you planned because the setup is just so comfortable. The whole experience feels like crashing at that one friend’s place who has impeccable taste in tech but also knows how to make you feel at home – which, given that 9-star rating, seems to be exactly what they’re going for.

  Location is wonderful, very close to everything. The room is very pretty and Cousy, we are defiantly comings back.

  If you are a Harry Potter fan this is a must-stay property!! We stayed for 3 nights and managed to watch all 8 films, played HP Trivial Pursuit tournaments (in French but we used Google Translate) and lived like wizards for 3 days.
  
  The location was great too, great for exploring the city (although we stayed in a lot because we couldn’t force ourselves out!)
  
  I highly recommend this place to stay – staff were amazing, the kitchenette was well supplied, and the sofa bed was really comfy.

  Immersion totale, bien équipée, un peu frais en arrivant, mais chauffages efficaces.
  Et puis la déco en mode HP, fait toute la magie.
  J'y reviendrai volontiers avec mes enfants la prochaine fois.
