Hotel Description
You know what surprised me most about this place? Walking up to 3 Rue Courbin, I honestly expected just another tourist apartment – but this T4 is actually something special. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux stone facade that locals call “pierre de Bordeaux,” and you’re literally in the heart of everything without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble.
The apartment – and I mean, calling it just an apartment feels wrong – spreads out way more than you’d expect from the street view. Four proper rooms, which is rare in this part of the city center, and the kitchen actually has counter space (trust me, this matters when you’re trying to prep a picnic for the Garonne riverbanks). What really got me was the morning light streaming through those tall French windows – there’s something about the way it hits the original hardwood floors that makes you want to linger over coffee way longer than planned. The furnishings feel intentional, not like someone just ordered everything from the same catalog. I particularly loved the mix of modern touches with what I’m guessing are some authentic period pieces.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a three-minute walk to Place Gambetta, which means you’ve got that gorgeous circle of 18th-century buildings right there, plus all the shops and cafés that locals actually use (not just the obvious tourist spots). The morning market at Marché des Capucins is close enough that you’ll hear the early vendors setting up – some people might find this annoying, but honestly, it’s part of the authentic Bordeaux rhythm. And here’s something the booking sites won’t tell you: you’re perfectly positioned between the tram lines, so getting out to the wine regions or even just across to the Right Bank is ridiculously easy. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood – well, it’s tricky everywhere in central Bordeaux – but there are a couple of underground garages within a reasonable walk.
The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there. It’s those little details that add up: really good water pressure (not always a given in these older buildings), thoughtful touches like local guidebooks and restaurant recommendations that feel personal rather than generic, and honestly just the sense that someone who knows Bordeaux put real thought into making this work for travelers. I stayed during late spring when the city gets busy with wine tourists, and even then the street stayed relatively quiet at night – though you’ll definitely hear some weekend revelry, which is part of the charm rather than a problem. The check-in process was smooth, and the host clearly knows the neighborhood well enough to give you the kind of insider tips that actually matter. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between authentic local living and traveler convenience, this place nails it without trying too hard.

Some complained about bugs- wine gnats – nothing really , people complained about uber not coming close enough- taxis can uber cannot, Bordeaux is mostly pedestrian roads only taxis can drive on some of the pedestrian roads to protect the buildings from pollution.A wonderful apartment in a very convenient location! – Philippe from Australia – 28 October 2024 (10/10)
The location was incredibly convenient. We loved the fact that we had seperate en-suites for the three couples. The provisions provided were exceptional and that was still topped by the croissants and baguette delivered magically every morning!

Location is superb- right in the heart of St Pierre and also close to the river and trams. Nicely done and very modern. Daily baguettes and croissants are great, also juice, milk butter, jam and tea and coffee provided. Pool good if very cold!!
What could be improved: Hardly anything- leather on one of the bed frames flaking slightly and one cupboard in kitchen slightly damaged
