The Chartrons neighborhood is one of those areas that locals love but tourists somehow miss – which actually works in your favor because you get all the charm without the crowds pushing past you on every corner.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in this part of Bordeaux. I mean, T2 sounds tiny, but there’s this clever layout that makes everything feel open and breathable. The kitchen has enough counter space that you can actually spread out your morning croissants and coffee without playing Tetris with your belongings, and the bedroom window catches this gorgeous morning light that filters through the old plane trees lining the street. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night – Rue Borie doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that some of the main drags do, so you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open. The building has that solid, old-Bordeaux construction that keeps things peaceful inside.

Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk to the Saturday morning marché des Chartrons, which is honestly where you want to be anyway if you’re doing the whole “live like a local” thing. The antique dealers along Cours Portal stretch just a few blocks over, perfect for wandering when you need to kill time before dinner. And here’s something nobody tells you – there’s this little wine bar called Le Verre Volé about three minutes away that stays open later than most places and doesn’t feel like a tourist trap at all. The tram runs right down Cours de Verdun, so getting into the city center takes maybe fifteen minutes, but I found myself staying in the neighborhood more than I planned because everything you need is right there. Parking can be a bit tricky during the week (those narrow streets weren’t designed for modern cars), but weekends open up more spots, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive much anyway. The whole setup just works – it’s got that perfect balance where you feel like you’re experiencing real Bordeaux life without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

  Die Wohnung liegt sehr ruhig in einer kleinen Straße in der ehemaligen Weinhändlergegend. Die Anbindung mit der Tram ist ideal, die Tram C vom Bahnhof liegt 5 Minuten Fußweg entfernt. In der rue Martinique gibt es einen kleinen Carrefour und einen Bäcker mit Brot aus dem Holzofen….
  Die Wohnung selbst liegt im ersten Stock, über eine geschwungene Treppe zu erreichen. Schöne hohe Altbaudecken, mit Wohn- und Essbereich. Die Küchennische hat einen Induktionsherd, kleinen Backofen und ausreichend Geschirr.
  Den nicht vorhandenen Fernseher haben wir nicht vermisst.
  Die Schlüsselübergabe erfolgt über eine Schlüsselbox.
