Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Bordeaux, but this renovated apartment on Rue Ausone really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone actually cared about this”? That’s exactly what happened here. The renovation work is honestly impressive without being show-offy, and you can tell they kept the character of the building while making everything work for modern travelers. Plus, and this is huge for Bordeaux city center, they’ve got actual parking included. I mean, if you’ve ever tried to find a spot near Place du Palais on a weekend, you’ll understand why that alone is worth celebrating.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without the tourist chaos. Rue Ausone is this quiet little street that most visitors walk right past, but you’re literally a two-minute stroll from Place du Palais – you know, where all the wine bars spill out onto the cobblestones and locals argue about which vintage was better. I actually spent most evenings just wandering around that area, popping into places like Bar à Vin du CIVB (which, honestly, has one of the best Bordeaux selections I’ve found) or grabbing dinner at one of those tiny bistros that don’t even have websites. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a rental – there’s this attention to detail that you don’t usually get. Good coffee setup, decent wifi that actually works, and the kind of shower pressure that makes you want to extend your stay an extra day just for that morning routine.

What really sold me, though, was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being so central would mean dealing with noise, but Rue Ausone seems to exist in this peaceful bubble. I could hear the distant hum of the tram occasionally, which actually became sort of comforting after a day of exploring. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, it’s just thoughtfully done. The kind of place where you can spread out your maps and wine purchases (because let’s be honest, you’re leaving Bordeaux with more bottles than you planned), plan your next day’s wandering, and actually feel settled. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bordeaux like someone who lives there rather than just passing through, this is your spot.

  The apartment is in a very good position in Bordeaux to be able to see many key sights. Restaurants ,bars and a supermarket are close by. The apartment is comfortable even in the extreme heat we had. I appreciated the air-con unit that had been supplied otherwise it would have been very hot in the apartment. It obviously has been recently refurbished and has all the things you need for a comfortable stay.
  Sandrine was very helpful in so many ways.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing I would say is the safe is far to low and needs to be on a higher shelf as us oldies were unable to get down that low and use it.

  Beautiful apartment, very modern and clean. Kitchen was stocked with useful items and dishes. Great location and friendly responsive hosts. We were greeted with lots of information, wine & crackers.I will definitely book it again!

  What could be improved: 1. Parking here needs to come with a warning. It is not for the faint hearted. Parking is in the bowels of the earth and is extremely tight and difficult if you don't have a very small car. We had to make our way 3 levels down a steep and very narrow driveway which was challenging to say the least.
  2. The washing machine is shared and we encountered the issue that we could not use it when required and when we did get to use it, there was nowhere to air our clothes. There is however a drier which I did not want to use on delicate clothing.

  The room was comfortable, very clean, and well-equipped, with a very comfortable bed. I really love it here. The bathroom is very clean, spacious, and nicely designed. Everything is really nice, and the location is great, close to attractions and the tramway. It’s easy to travel everywhere in Bordeaux, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. I highly recommend it! 🙂

  Propreté impeccable. Très bien équipé. Beaucoup d’espace et de commodités. Emplacement idéal dans Bordeaux. Très bon accueil par le propriétaire.
