Hotel Description

So I stumbled across this apartment on Rue Lafayette last spring, and honestly? The name’s a bit of a mouthful – “Appartement Luxe avec Climatisation Parking Vue Exeptionnelle” – but they’re not kidding about any of it. The place sits right in Bordeaux’s city center, literally two minutes from Place Gambetta if you know the area. You walk out the door and there’s this lovely French bakery that does these incredible pain au chocolat (I may have gotten one every morning), and the whole street has that authentic Bordeaux limestone architecture that makes you feel like you’re actually in France, not some tourist bubble.

What really got me was the view – I mean, when they say “exeptionnelle” they actually mean it. From the main window, you’re looking out over the old city rooftops toward the Garonne, and if you crane your neck just a bit, you can catch glimpses of the cathedral spires. The apartment itself feels properly luxurious without being stuffy, you know? The air conditioning was a godsend during that heat wave in June (and trust me, Bordeaux can get surprisingly muggy), and the whole place had this lived-in elegance – like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. The floors are these gorgeous old hardwoods that creak just slightly when you walk around in the morning, which I actually found charming rather than annoying.

Parking in central Bordeaux is honestly a nightmare usually, but having a dedicated spot was such a relief – especially since you’re within walking distance of basically everything worth seeing. I’d leave the car there for days and just wander around the Chartrons district or pop over to the Marché des Capucins for fresh oysters and wine. The host was this lovely woman who clearly knows the neighborhood inside and out; she gave me a handwritten list of her favorite wine bars that wasn’t just the obvious tourist spots everyone recommends. One evening I could hear some street musicians playing near the Grand Théâtre, and the sound drifted up through the windows while I was having my morning coffee – it’s those little moments that made the place feel special. The only tiny complaint I’d have is that the shower pressure could be stronger, but honestly, after walking around Bordeaux all day, even a gentle drizzle felt pretty good. With that 9.5 rating, I wasn’t surprised to find it was booked solid when I tried to extend my stay – apparently I’m not the only one who figured out this is the perfect base for exploring the city without feeling like you’re staying in some corporate hotel chain.

Reviews

  • Wonderful stay in gorgeous Bordeaux apartment so typical of France. – Gail from Australia – 11 July 2025 (10/10)

Beautifully furnished and very comfortable, great air conditioning, fabulous location, responsive and helpful management.

What could be improved: Non functioning freezer, limited number of cups, tricky iron power point.

  • Great interior full of light and space, excellent location – Andrea from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (10/10)

    Great interior design

  • Fabulous apartment in a central location – but 2nd bedroom/bathroom quite inferior to Master suite. Is fine for a fa – Philippa from United Kingdom – 30 April 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic location – it couldn’t be closer to the river, the old town, the trams, all the restaurants and bars and shops for provisions and breakfast.
Beautiful building – full of character and furnished with so much taste and a very well appointed kitchen with loads of space for dining and sitting in The communal areas.
    The views from the full
length windows are amazing and being able to open the windows and step
onto the small balcony into the sunshine was wonderful. Very secure building with a lift to the 3rd floor apartment.
We didn’t use the TV but they have them and wifi is good. We didn’t use the A/C but it is there.

What could be improved: The 2nd bedroom and bathroom are quite inferior to the master suite. Bedroom is a good size but it leads straight into the lounge and the toilet and bathroom are across the hall. The 2nd bathroom is small and the shower not great. BUT it is a conversión so I guess they have done the best. The sizes of the bedrooms are good though. Because it is situated on a very main road the traffic noise is VERY loud especially of the windows are open. It is audible even when they are closed. This is because of the very central location in a big town but there is a lot of beeping and trams bells and back-firing bikes through the day and quite late at night. However, close the shutters and get ear plugs and it wasn’t a problem sleeping. You just cannot sleep with the windows open.

  • A very pleasant stay – Nadim from Egypt – 12 January 2025 (10/10)

Spacious , close to the centre , a very pleasant place with nice deco. Nice views and lots of light during the day .

What could be improved: Stove not functioning properly , noisy although the windows are double glazed .

  • We loved it ! Had the best time. – Sole from Spain – 2 November 2024 (10/10)

The location and the view were superb!

What could be improved: Very very early check out

  • Luxuriously central – Angela from United Kingdom – 20 October 2024 (10/10)

A beautiful apartment with stunning views. Very well equipped including dishwasher and washing machine. You need a head for heights to use the balcony!

What could be improved: Key pick up was a bit stressful after our flight was delayed – we were fortunate in having relatives who could collect keys to avoid the 10 euros per hour delay beyond 8.30pm. The deposit was a hassle but was returned OK and understandable with such a lovely apartment.

  • An very central and secure base with excellent views while visiting Bordeeaux – Eileen from United Kingdom – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

Location was excellent with amazing river views. The flat was very spacious and both bedrooms had separate bathrooms, one was ensuite. It was easy to keep in contact with the person meeting us when our arrival was slightly delayed as we had already set up a WhatsApp link.

What could be improved: The biggest problem was setting up the deposit for the property on the Swikly platform they use. Various credit cards were declined apparently because the level of security on this platform was not up to the standard some of the UK banks require to authorise the payment. However I eventually found a card that was accepted. To be fair it is only set up to deal with a problem. However there was a service fee of €9.30 charged to set up the deposit.

  • Exceptional – Lisa from Ireland – 8 September 2024 (10/10)

    Perfect location.
    2 showers, 2 toilets.
    Very spacious.
    Great aircon/wifi

What could be improved: Traffic noise from 1 of the bedrooms but ear plugs sorted that.
