You know what struck me first about this place? The light. I mean, they literally put “lumineux” (bright) in the name, and honestly, they weren’t kidding around. Walking into this Art Deco apartment on Cours de la Martinique feels like stepping into one of those perfectly curated Instagram photos, except it’s actually real and you get to sleep there.

The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me – Chartrons has this cool vibe where it’s definitely Bordeaux but feels like you’ve discovered some secret neighborhood that tourists haven’t completely overrun yet. You’re basically a five-minute walk from the tram line, which I actually used every day because parking in central Bordeaux can be… well, let’s just say having a dedicated spot here is worth its weight in gold. The apartment sits on this tree-lined street that gets busy during the day but quiets down nicely in the evenings. I loved opening the windows in the morning and hearing the city wake up – coffee machines humming from neighboring buildings, the occasional delivery truck, people heading to work. It felt authentically French in a way that some hotels just can’t replicate.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep the Art Deco character intact while making everything actually functional for modern life. The bathroom has this gorgeous tilework that looks original, and the kitchen – honestly, I ended up cooking more than I planned because it’s actually equipped for real meals, not just reheating leftovers. The bed was comfortable enough that I overslept twice (whoops), and there’s this little seating area by the windows where I’d sit with my morning coffee watching Chartrons come alive. The whole setup feels more like borrowing a stylish friend’s apartment than staying in typical tourist accommodation. Sure, it’s not massive – this is Europe, after all – but every square meter is thoughtfully used. My only tiny complaint? The WiFi got a bit spotty during evening hours when I assume everyone in the building was streaming Netflix, but honestly, that just gave me more excuse to wander around the neighborhood. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between authentic local experience and actual comfort, this place nails it.

  Excellent appartement in one of the best areas of Bordeaux. Quiet, clean, spacious and perfectly located. You can walk downtown or take the tram, you have one of the best bakery of Bordeaux downstairs. I will be happy to come back anytime!

  We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It had plenty of space for our family, with nice wooden floors and high ceilings. It feels spacious. The location is excellent near the river with lots of nearby restaurants and an easy walk or tram ride to the downtown area. The apartment can get warm but there is an air conditioning unit for the bedroom corridor, which helps. Very handy to have off-street parking.

  A perfect location and enough space for a group trip. The appartment was very beautiful and spacious. Charming place, beds were comfortable. Boulangerie next door was delicious and open on Sunday. Check in and out was easy.

  Well appointed. Two toilets made it more comfortable for two couples. It was hot and very noisy. Partiers in the building were loud below and above until 1:00. At 4:00 more noise in the stairwell began. We got very little sleep.

  The apartment is nice and spacious with a perfect location in Bordeaux. The apartment is not in the middle of the center, but still in a charming and lively area, within walking distance of the center and the La Cité du Vin, and with easy access to public transport. Small shops and bakeries are close by. The parking is perfect if you arrive by car, and you can easily store it away and not worry about it until you leave again.
  Other than that the host was extremely helpful and very flexible concerning check in and out. A very nice experience, we would definitely go again!
