Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to 30 Rue de Ruat, I wasn’t expecting much from what’s technically listed as a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this little apartment-style spot absolutely delivers on location in a way that’ll make you forget about fancy lobby marble.

The thing about this place is it’s properly in the thick of things – I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Place du Parlement, which honestly might be one of Bordeaux’s most gorgeous squares (those 18th-century facades are something else). You can grab your morning coffee at one of those tiny bistros on Rue des Argentiers, then wander over to the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins without even thinking about it. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel – there’s actual character in the rooms, not that generic chain hotel vibe. I particularly loved how quiet it gets at night, which surprised me given how central you are. The old stone buildings here are thick, and Rue de Ruat doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that some of the main drags do.

What really sold me was the practical stuff that nobody tells you about. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no hovering over a tiny desk in a cramped lobby because, well, there isn’t really a traditional lobby. The woman who showed me around actually knew the neighborhood, not just the tourist spots but the real gems. She pointed me toward this wine bar on Rue Fernand Philippart that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms have that high-ceiling thing going on that you get in these old Bordeaux buildings, plus enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two. And here’s something I appreciated – decent WiFi that didn’t cut out every time someone else logged on. Small thing, but you know how frustrating that can be. The only minor downside? If you’re driving, parking can be a bit of a hunt during busy periods, though there’s usually something within a few blocks if you’re patient. But honestly, once you’re settled in here, you probably won’t need your car much anyway – the tram’s right there, and most of what you’ll want to see in Bordeaux is walkable from this spot.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Bordeaux at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous cultural festivals.

  • Exceptional – Rebecca from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic location, really central but not noisy at night so it was perfect. The check-in was super easy and the host was very friendly and communicative. The apartment was fresh, a good size and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and my friends and I had a really pleasant stay.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

    Location

  • Beautiful apartment, excellent location – Carolyn from Australia – 13 November 2024 (9/10)

The location was in a quiet street and yet very close to everywhere. I loved that it’s spacious and nicely appointed.

What could be improved: The washing machine could do with an upgrade! Be prepared to carry bags through narrow stairwell.

  • Exceptional – Sally from United Kingdom – 4 September 2024 (10/10)

Very chic, high ceilings, lovely and light apartment, great location, lots of cafe/bars. Would definitely stay again and the creaking floorboards didn't bother us and just added to the charm of the place.

What could be improved: Like a few people have mentioned, the facilities could do with a bit of an update but it didn't spoil our stay.
Just a suggestion but perhaps you could fit the shower with a wall bracket to hold the showerhead whilst showering. Looks like you have had one but then you've got a new showerhead so it doesn't fit 🙂

  • Lovely apartment in the heart of the city. – Marco from Portugal – 27 August 2024 (9/10)

Great location, right in the center of Bordeaux but in a very quiet street. The city center is almost 100% pedestrian only, so there's no car noises. The apartment is lovely and the rooms are comfortable.

What could be improved: If you plan to cook, keep in mind that the kitchen needs some TLC.

  • Beautiful apartment, clean and bright, great location. – Alison from United Kingdom – 3 July 2024 (10/10)

    Fantastic location

What could be improved: There seemed to be an issue with the boiler so there wasn’t hot water for two days.
