Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Bordeaux apartments over the years, but this place on Quai des Chartrons honestly surprised me. The moment you walk in, you get why it has that 8.8 rating – the air conditioning hits you first (which, trust me, you’ll appreciate during those sweltering July afternoons), and then you see those Garonne views stretching out through the windows. I mean, you’re literally watching the river traffic go by while having your morning coffee.

The Chartrons neighborhood is where you want to be if you actually want to feel like you live in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it. You’ve got the antique dealers along Rue Notre-Dame just a few blocks away, and honestly, some of the best wine bars in the city are within walking distance. The apartment itself feels more spacious than most three-bedroom places I’ve seen in this area – the living room doesn’t feel cramped even when you’ve got people over, and each bedroom actually has decent storage space (you know how rare that is in French apartments). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being right on the quai. Sure, you’ll hear the occasional tram rumbling by on the other side of the river, but it’s more ambient than annoying.

The kitchen is properly equipped too – not just the bare minimum you usually get in vacation rentals. I actually cooked a few meals there, and everything from the coffee maker to the dishwasher worked exactly as it should. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux stone facade, so you feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character rather than some modern box. Parking can be a bit of a hunt in this area (fair warning), but there’s usually something along the river if you don’t mind a short walk. Check-in was smooth – the host clearly knows what they’re doing and doesn’t make you jump through hoops to get settled. During the summer months it does get busy with tourists walking along the waterfront, but that actually adds to the energy rather than detracting from it. If you’re planning to explore the wine country, you’re perfectly positioned here – easy access out of the city, but you come home to those river views and the evening light hitting the water just right.

  Marie was lovely, she met us upon arrival and took us up to apartment.
  
  What could be improved: We woke up late the morning of departure, we had 7 minutes before checkout. The cleaning staff started to toss my belongings to me off of the bed to try and make it up and get us out.
  It was our fault we he came 7 minutes before checkout but it was an awful way to leave unready for the day:(
  I accidentally grabbed the keys in a rush and took them to Sarlat with me. We returned them on our way back.
  Id recommend the place, just set your alarm.

  The location, the concierge service and the place was clean and neat. Also decently stocked and there was a good kitchen with a good selection of utensils and kitchen wear. Really enjoyed our stay and hopefully will be back in the near future.

  The property itself from the moment you enter the door is amazing!!!! First time that photos are true to reality !!! Modern Appartement with the best view . Clean and full of amenities.

  What could be improved: Attention to detail is lacking – majority of cheap IKEA china is chipped & cracked, 2 glasses had visible cracks – good job we spotted these before an injury occurred, there was a foul smell of waste / sewerage upon entering the accommodation at street level, this smell drifted into our apartment. the bathroom needs hooks for towels / dressing gowns etc. There is no full length mirror. The main bedroom at entrance level has a dingy walk in dressing area, we would recommend that a door is re-affixed to the storage room as we had to listen to water pouring down pipes and refilling for up to 30 minutes at a time which was irritating. We were provided with 2.5 small rolls of toilet paper between 5 adults for 3 days, clearly inadequate, it ran out after 2 days. I requested more on the Saturday morning at 09:58am, and a further request at 17:13pm – no action was taken or efforts made to replenish the paper. I received a message at 22:45 telling me that a message had been sent to the cleaner, which had clearly been ignored – what use was that when we were checking out in the morning? The apartment was expensive for what it is, we certainly shouldn't have been expected to shop for toilet paper and collect from bathrooms of cafe's / restaurants frequented. If it wasn't for the location of this apartment the overall rating would be poor – it feels like a business rather than hospitality and could / should be much better for the price charged.
