Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The moment you walk into this three-bedroom apartment on Quai Richelieu, you’re hit with these massive windows framing the Garonne – and I mean, it’s not just some glimpse of water through buildings. You’re literally perched right above the river, watching the trams glide by on the opposite bank and boats meandering past at sunset.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting. You’re smack in the city center, which means you can stumble to Place de la Bourse for photos (though honestly, the view from your apartment might be better), and the wine bars along the quai are basically your neighbors. I loved that you could grab fresh croissants from the boulangerie just down Cours Victor Hugo in the morning, then spend the afternoon exploring the antique shops tucked into the side streets. The apartment itself feels properly French – high ceilings, original moldings, that sort of elegant-but-lived-in vibe that makes you want to buy a beret and drink wine at 2 PM. The three bedrooms are actually spacious enough that you won’t feel cramped, even with a full group, and the kitchen is well-equipped enough that we ended up cooking with ingredients from the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins.
What really sold me on this spot was the rhythm of river life you get to witness. Early mornings, it’s joggers and dog walkers along the quai – surprisingly peaceful for being so central. Evenings bring out couples strolling and street musicians near Pont de Pierre. The only thing to note is that weekend nights can get a bit lively with people spilling out of the riverside bars, but honestly, it adds to the atmosphere rather than being truly disruptive. Parking can be tricky (this is old Bordeaux, after all), but there’s a public garage about a five-minute walk away on Cours Alsace-Lorraine. The 9-star rating makes total sense – it’s that rare find where the photos actually undersell the experience, especially when you’re sipping morning coffee while watching the light change over the water.
