Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place on Avenue Emile Counord – it’s one of those finds that actually gets better the longer you stay. When I first walked up to number 71, honestly, the building didn’t scream “charming Bordeaux getaway,” but that’s sort of the point. You’re right in the thick of Chartrons, which means you’re basically living like a local instead of being stuck in some tourist bubble downtown. The two-bedroom setup is genuinely spacious (I mean, you can actually open your suitcase without having to close the bathroom door), and there’s something refreshing about having real rooms instead of that cramped hotel nonsense where everything’s within arm’s reach.
What I love about this spot – and what you won’t really get until you’re there – is how it sits in the neighborhood. You know that morning ritual where you grab coffee and maybe pick up some groceries? Well, you’ll be doing it alongside actual Bordelais heading to work, not other tourists taking Instagram photos of their croissants. The Chartrons market is basically around the corner, and honestly, that’s where you’ll end up most Saturday mornings whether you planned to or not. The tram line runs right through the area too, so getting down to the old city or over to the wine museum doesn’t require any mental gymnastics with public transport maps. Parking can be a bit of a dance – like most of Bordeaux, really – but there are spots if you’re patient, and the alternative is just hopping on the tram anyway.
The apartment itself feels… lived-in, I guess? Not in a bad way, but it’s clearly designed for people who want to actually stay somewhere rather than just crash between sightseeing marathons. The kitchen’s properly equipped (you can make real meals, not just heat up pastries), and the bedrooms are quiet enough that you won’t hear every conversation from the street. That 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works, it’s clean, and you get that authentic Bordeaux residential vibe that’s actually pretty hard to find. Some of the fixtures are showing their age a bit, sure, and the WiFi can be temperamental when it’s raining (welcome to France), but these feel like minor trade-offs for the location and space. If you’re the type who wants to explore the antique shops along Rue Notre-Dame, walk to dinner instead of taking taxis everywhere, and maybe even cook with some of those gorgeous ingredients from the local markets, this place just makes sense. It’s Bordeaux without the tourism markup, basically.
Visitors often choose Bordeaux’s apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent wine capital.

The apartment is fully furnished and as nice as you can see in the pictures, and very clean.. there is a little terrace too where we had our breakfast, lunch or dinner. Excellent the position, in three stops of the bus 🚌 you are in the city centre and the bus stop is close to the apartment.

The access was good and secure. Parking was secure. Access to the trams was easy. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large. The lounge was well appointed.

This apartment is like walking into a French persons home, maybe Grandma’s. So if you want a genuine French experience then this is it. On the tram line so easy to get into town and from the station. A supermarket across the road. Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen.
