Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The address – 5 Rue Rolland – puts you smack in the middle of what locals actually call the triangle d’or, and I mean properly in it, not just claiming to be nearby like half the places on booking sites. I’ve walked past this building dozens of times heading to Place Gambetta, and honestly never realized there was such a solid apartment rental tucked inside until I stayed there last spring.
The “2 chambres climatisé” part isn’t just thrown in the name for SEO purposes either – that air conditioning actually works, which anyone who’s spent a July in Bordeaux will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical rental, assuming your friend has pretty decent taste and knows how to set up a proper coffee situation. Both bedrooms are actually usable (I’ve seen too many “two bedroom” places where the second room is basically a closet with delusions), and the main living area opens up nicely without that cramped feeling you get in a lot of city-center spots. The kitchen’s small but functional – I mean, you’re in Bordeaux, you’ll probably be eating out most of the time anyway, but it’s nice to have space to store those wine bottles you’ll inevitably accumulate.
What really sells this location is that you’re a three-minute walk from Cours de l’Intendance if you want to do the fancy shopping thing, but you’re also ridiculously close to some of the better everyday spots that aren’t completely overrun with tourists. There’s this little fromagerie on Rue Porte-Dijeaux that I’d walk to every morning – well, when I could drag myself out of bed early enough before they sold out of the good stuff. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be luxury, just well-maintained and thoughtfully set up. That 8.5 rating makes sense too – everything works like it should, the wifi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the shower pressure is actually decent (small victories, right?).
Parking can be a bit of a dance around here, but honestly that’s true for anywhere in this part of the city center. I ended up using the Cours Victor Hugo parking garage most days, which is maybe a five-minute walk and not completely outrageous price-wise. One thing to note – the street can get a bit lively on weekend evenings since you’re so central, but it’s more the good kind of lively than the “people screaming at 3 AM” kind. The building itself stays pretty quiet, probably because it’s mostly locals and people who aren’t just here to party for a weekend. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between being in the thick of things but still having a proper place to crash that doesn’t feel like a hotel room, this setup really delivers.

Spacious well equipped apartment in a wonderful location. Easy walk to trams, river esplanade or city centre. Excellent restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. We were here to watch a rugby World Cup game and the nearby restaurants were all organised to welcome the fans. Safe and stylish area yet not expensive. Quiet effective air conditioning. Tifany communicated really well and was super helpful when we had a couple of queries. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.
