Honestly, when I first walked up to 45 Rue Condillac, I wasn’t sure what to expect from an apartment rental in the heart of Bordeaux – but this place actually surprised me in the best way. You know that feeling when you open a door and immediately think “okay, I could live here”? That’s exactly what happened. The two-bedroom setup is spacious without feeling empty, and everything feels thoughtfully arranged rather than just thrown together like some vacation rentals.

But here’s the thing that really sold me – that terrace. I mean, terraces in city centers can be hit or miss (sometimes you’re staring at a brick wall or listening to garbage trucks at dawn), but this one actually overlooks a quieter section of the street where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch Bordeaux wake up. The evening light hits it perfectly around 7 PM, which I discovered after spending way too much time out there with a bottle of wine from the Carrefour City just down the street. Speaking of location, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Place Gambetta – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and even closer to some genuinely good bistros that aren’t tourist traps. The Marché des Capucins is close enough that you can grab fresh produce without it being a whole expedition, which matters if you’re planning to actually use that well-equipped kitchen.

What I appreciated most was how the place strikes this balance between being in the thick of things without the constant city noise. Rue Condillac isn’t one of those main arteries where delivery trucks rumble by at 6 AM, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The apartment itself has this lived-in comfort – good shower pressure (seriously, this matters more than people admit), decent Wi-Fi, and furniture that’s actually comfortable to sink into after a day of wandering around the wine country. I did notice the stairs up to the apartment are a bit steep, so maybe not ideal if mobility is a concern, but honestly that’s pretty standard for these older Bordeaux buildings. The 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s solidly good without being flashy, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience a city like a local rather than feeling like you’re camping out in a hotel room.

  The concierge was very helpful, in advance and during the stay with any questions we had. The accommodation was lovely and very central and they had thought of some details like dishwasher tablets and nespresso pods. Nice touch!

  Location is fabulous. It’s so easy to walk all over the city. Near tram stations.
  Very comfortable. Well appointed. Large light rooms. Nice bathroom. Very secure. Little terrace which will be lovely in hot weather.
  Very near a big supermarket at the marche grands hommes. We all liked staying there and would highly recommend it.
  
  What could be improved: Communication was complicated because the company emails and sends messages other than via Booking.com. Questions sent via Booking.com were unanswered. The company charges a lot of money for late checkin. But we were allowed a later check out with no charge. The person who checked us in didn’t know anything about the apartment. No explanation regarding rubbish and recycling

  Location was in convenient walking distance of Bordeaux city center. Apartment was spacious and convenient for 4 people. The weather was exceptionally hot during our stay but the A/C was fine.
  
  What could be improved: Parking is difficult, so I would not recommend staying by car.
  The street noise can be loud if you want to keep the windows open.

  The property has an excellent location and allows for walking pretty much everywhere in downtown Bordeaux and has a full and well equipped kitchen, even though it shows some ware and tear.
  
  What could be improved: During our last night in the property the water heater broke down and caused hot water to flow onto the floor and leak into the shop located on the lower level. I called the property manager right away but nothing could be done on a Sunday evening. In the morning of the next day, I had to deal with an angry shop keeper who complained that his shop had water intrusion coming from the ceiling. The property clearly needs better maintenance.

  The check-in was hassle-free and Mandy, our host, was responsive to our questions. The walk to the nearest tram stop is straightforward. There’s a supermarket nearby and we prepared breakfast with the full equipped kitchen. Having a washer and dryer in the apartment is a plus factor. The living room sofa is a bit low so we used the high chairs when chilling out. The master bedroom is spacious and the smaller room is adequate. The two bathroom sinks are useful to have. Overall, we are glad we picked the apartment.
