Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually a proper apartment-style setup, not just another cramped hotel room with a kettle shoved in the corner. I mean, when you walk into All Suites Appart Hôtel, you get a real kitchenette with a proper fridge and enough counter space to actually prep something decent – which honestly saved me a fortune during my four-day stay in Bordeaux.
The location on Cours Barbey is pretty smart, actually. You’re about a seven-minute walk from Gare Saint-Jean, which sounds far but really isn’t when you’re dragging luggage (I timed it, because I’m neurotic like that). What I loved was being close enough to the station for easy day trips to the wine regions, but far enough that you don’t get that constant rumble of trains at all hours. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – there’s a decent boulangerie two blocks down where the owner actually remembers your order after day two, and a Super U grocery store that stays open late enough for those “oh crap, I need breakfast supplies” moments. The tram line is right there too, which gets you into the historic center in maybe fifteen minutes.
Here’s the thing about three-star places – they can go either way, right? But this one gets the basics really right. The beds are firm (thank god), the shower has actual water pressure, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every time someone in the next room turns on their hairdryer. I stayed in a studio on the third floor, and it was surprisingly quiet considering you’re on a fairly busy street. The décor is… well, it’s inoffensive. Sort of modern but not trying too hard – think IKEA but with better lighting. My only real gripe was the air conditioning, which worked fine but sounded like a small aircraft taking off whenever it kicked in.
What really sets this place apart is how they handle the practical stuff. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived at some ungodly hour after a delayed flight, and they actually gave me useful local tips instead of just handing over a generic tourist map. The kitchenette meant I could grab fresh stuff from the Saturday market on Cours Victor Hugo and have proper picnic supplies for wine country day trips. Plus, parking is available on-site for about 12 euros a day – not cheap, but honestly worth it given how medieval some of Bordeaux’s streets are for navigating with a rental car.
The 7.8 rating makes sense to me. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re the type who wants room service and Egyptian cotton sheets, look elsewhere. But if you want a clean, comfortable base with enough space to spread out and the freedom to eat something other than hotel breakfast every morning – well, this hits the sweet spot. Especially if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city and wine country rather than lounging around your room.

Superb – Aneurin from United Kingdom – 22 July 2025 (9/10)
Lovely compact apartment, great location for bus and tram routes into the centre. Even better for the main train station for transport to places like Arcachon and St Emillion.
Air conditioning was also very effective and the kitchen was sufficiently equipped.Good – Jane from Australia – 20 July 2025 (7/10)
It was clean and the room is light and airy, a bigger space than usual. Staff are all really helpful and the hotel is fairly central.
What could be improved: Having to sleep in a plastic mattress protector is not my idea of a good nights sleep – had to remove…
There was no table to sit and eat in the kitchen area…Superb – Monica from Spain – 7 July 2025 (9/10)
Perfect city hotel
Perfect stay for Rock School Barby – David from France – 23 June 2025 (9/10)
A perfect hotel with 24 hour reception. The staff will offer a choice of rooms if you wish. We were attending a concert at Rock Barby, which is a stones throw from this hotel. It's the ideal place to stay if you are doing the same. It's also a short walk from the train station so is ideal for a restful overnight stop.
What could be improved: The location suited us, but if you are simply visiting Bordeaux this is probably not the best location as the tram/bus is a walk away and there are not too many shops around.Central and friendly – Grant from New Zealand – 19 June 2025 (8/10)
Central and clean. Excellent breakfast!
Dissatisfied – Colin from Spain – 17 June 2025 (7/10)
There’s a great Kebab house across the square
What could be improved: We had no aircon in the room when we arrived so they moved us to another room, we had no aircon in there either. We got them to turn it on behind the desk. The next day when we came back from visiting the city we had no air con, we got them to turn it on again, it lasted about 3 hrs & went off again so we gave up. The breakfast was very basic I don’t know what they made the omelette with but it wasn’t eggs !Very good – Garry from Australia – 30 May 2025 (8/10)
Good location,breakfast and room size

Lovely staff
Comfortable and convenient to the station. – Russell from Australia – 4 May 2025 (9/10)
Very quiet and comfortable room, extremely friendly staff, convenient location close to the main railway station.
What could be improved: NAGood for a short stay. – Linda from Canada – 24 April 2025 (8/10)
Room was spacious enough for us for 1 night. Clean, well equipped with coffee pot, kettle, toaster, frig. We wanted somewhere close to the train station. This worked very well for us. Bonus was a small restaurant steps away for kebabs, burgers, etc. Worth a try. A nice patisserie nearby, too.
What could be improved: Uni students partying through the night, off and on. Mostly quiet though.
