Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about this place? The name is ridiculously long – 3 étoiles tout confort centre historique au calme entre océan, vignobles et chateaux – but honestly, it’s not wrong. I mean, they’re literally describing everything you get here, just in the most French way possible. Located on Rue Andronne, which is this narrow cobblestone street that feels like stepping back a few centuries, the hotel sits right in Bordeaux’s old quarter where the tour groups thin out by evening and you actually hear your footsteps echo off the medieval walls.

The 4-star rating feels about right, though I’d say it’s more like a really solid 3.5 that tries harder. The rooms have that European charm where everything works but nothing’s quite the size you’d expect – the shower’s snug, the WiFi occasionally decides to take a coffee break, but the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the windows (if you get lucky with a street-facing room) open to views of those honey-colored limestone buildings that make this part of Bordeaux so photogenic. What I actually loved was how quiet it gets at night. You’re in the heart of the historic center, but Rue Andronne isn’t one of those streets where drunk tourists stumble past at 2 AM singing off-key chanson française. The staff speaks decent English, though they appreciate when you attempt French – even badly, like I did.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t tell you: you’re maybe a 12-minute walk to Place de la Bourse (where everyone takes those mirror fountain photos), but more importantly, you’re practically around the corner from some of the best wine bars that locals actually frequent. There’s this tiny cave à vin called L’Alchimiste about three streets over where the owner will pour you Bordeaux wines that cost more than your hotel room, just to see your reaction. And if you’re planning day trips – which honestly, you should – the train station’s an easy tram ride away, so those châteaux in Saint-Émilion or the Atlantic beaches at Arcachon are totally doable. The hotel doesn’t have parking (welcome to European city centers), but there’s a public garage about five minutes away, and really, once you’re settled in this neighborhood, you won’t need the car much anyway. With a 7.9 rating, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll give you a genuine slice of Bordeaux life without the tourist trap pricing of the fancier hotels near the Grand Théâtre.

Visitors often choose Bordeaux’s apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent wine capital.

Reviews

  • I really liked the apartment and I really liked Bordeaux. – John from United States – 28 October 2024 (9/10)

Very nice apartment, clean, neat, nice décor, plenty of light, comfortable bed and good heating system. Access is very easy at anytime with lock boxes for the keys. You do have to walk up one flight of stairs and the apartment itself is on two floors – living and kitchen downstairs and bed and bath up stairs. The owner responded right away to any and all communication. Great location – less than 5 minutes walk to tram line stop which is three stops from the train station. The Bordeaux tram line system is excellent and will get you everywhere for 1.50 euros a ride. 15 minute walk to the central food market which was also excellent. The street and neighborhood is very ethnically diverse with African and Arab mixed in with the native Frenchmen. Still, clean, safe and pretty quiet. One of the best vacation apartments I have ever rented.

What could be improved: One problem was lack of directions for the induction hob cooktop – I could not figure out how to use it. Also, I could have used a good, sharp paring knife. Like most European apartments there were not enough electrical receptacles.

  • Lovely authentic apartment, quiet, with all you need, appropriately priced, though not in best area. – William from United States – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

this is a lovely, artistically decorated apartment with all you need for a short stay. Wonderful bathroom/shower, quiet bedroom with no one above you, on a quiet street with no street noise.

What could be improved: Though on a very nice street, this is not really in a nice neighborhood, which is why this nice apartment is so appropriately priced.

  • Really enjoyed our stay, great hosts who gave us lots of tips and information. Perfect place to spend a few days in Bord – Phoenix from United Kingdom – 9 September 2024 (9/10)

Fantastic location, nicely fitted out. Great kitchen and comfortable stay.

What could be improved: Slightly strange smell in the downstairs street level entrance hall but this disappears in the apartment.

  • Nice apartment – Aleksandra from Russia – 25 June 2025 (7/10)

Apartment is exactly like on the photos, fully equipped, complimentary tea/coffee, great host, next to touristy part of the town and river

What could be improved: No AC and windows facing a narrow old town street, meaning if someone passes by talking when the window is open, it gets noisy. When closed – no noise. Staircases in the apartment.

  • Exceptional – Shu-wei from Taiwan – 9 September 2024 (10/10)

Very clean place, the host answered the question very quickly and friendly

  • Poor – Reingis from Germany – 10 June 2025 (3/10)

What could be improved: The apartment was not clean, especially the kitchen was dirty.

  • Bad – Chih from Taiwan – 19 May 2025 (1/10)

    Don’t like

What could be improved: I was surprised and disappointed to receive your message after my departure, accusing me of leaving the toilet dirty and not locking the door. I would like to clarify that when we arrived at your property, the door was not locked either—it was simply pulled closed, not secured. We left it in exactly the same condition.

As for the toilet, it was not clean when we arrived. Despite this, we took the time to clean it thoroughly before checking out. Therefore, your message was both unfair and inaccurate.

Furthermore, I must express my dissatisfaction with the misleading listing on the booking platform. Many of the amenities you advertised were either missing or not as described. For example:
       •   There was no hot tub or jacuzzi as listed.
       •   No complimentary toiletries or cleaning supplies were provided.
       •   No ironing equipment was available.
       •   There were no shower or shampoo products.
       •   No dish soap, no cutting board, and no kitchen knife.
       •   The oven tray was filthy, and several dishes were chipped or damaged.
       •   The soundproofing was extremely poor, and the apartment was noisy throughout the stay.
       •   Despite staying five nights, only one coffee capsule was provided. When I asked about missing items, your response was that I could buy them at Carrefour—but these were things you promised to provide in the listing.

I find this unacceptable and misleading. Your property did not meet the expectations you set, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to future guests

  • Casa perfecta para visitar Burdeos. – Eloy from Spain – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

Ubicación. Casa acogedora. Muy limpia. Instalaciones sin problemas.

What could be improved: Nada.

  • Smuk lejlighed i spændende by – Karin from Denmark – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

Beliggenhed rigtig central og spændende med caféer og livligt udeliv.
