Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to 127Flam on Rue Camille Flammarion, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – it’s tucked into this quiet residential street in the Bastide neighborhood that most tourists completely miss. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I ended up loving this place. While everyone else is fighting for overpriced rooms near the cathedral, you’re getting a genuine slice of Bordeaux life just across the river.
The hotel itself is this converted townhouse that feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than some sterile chain property. I mean, sure, it’s a three-star place with a 7.2 rating, so you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge in white gloves – but the rooms are actually thoughtfully put together. Mine had these great tall windows that opened onto the street, and mornings there are pretty magical with locals heading to work and the smell of fresh bread drifting up from the boulangerie around the corner. The beds are comfortable enough (I’m picky about mattresses), though the shower pressure could be better – typical for older French buildings, really. What I appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even with the windows open. The Bastide isn’t exactly a party district.
Here’s the thing that makes this spot work so well: you’re literally a five-minute walk to Pont de Pierre, which means crossing into central Bordeaux is a pleasant stroll rather than an expensive taxi ride. But more importantly, you get to experience this side of the river that actually feels lived-in. There’s this fantastic little market on Thursday mornings just two streets over – I stumbled across it by accident and ended up with the best peaches I’ve had in years. The hotel staff (there’s usually just one person at the front desk, very low-key operation) pointed me toward a wine bar called Le Bouchon that locals actually frequent, not just tourists taking Instagram photos. And parking? Well, if you’re driving, there are spots along the residential streets that don’t cost a fortune – just learn the parking sign system first, trust me on this one. The whole neighborhood has this relaxed energy where you can grab groceries, sit in small parks, and generally feel like you’re not just passing through but actually staying somewhere real. It’s not fancy, and it’s definitely not trying to be, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a place to sleep.

Es war sauber
What could be improved: Das war das bisher kleinste Zimmer unserer Reise, zum höchsten Preis. Sehr unpersönlich , kaum AusstattungGood – Martín from Spain – 18 May 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: La casa è davvero molto bella e si vede che i proprietari hanno buon gusto nell’arredamento.
– Anonymous from France – 1 July 2025 (10/10)
